VAL-D’OR AND FIRST NATIONS
Business Partners for more than 40 years.
Val-d’Or has developed long lasting business and cultural relationships with First Nations of the Algonquin Communities and the Cree Communities of Northern Québec. These exchanges have increased in the last 40 years. You will therefore find many native entities and organizations in Val-d’Or.
We deal with native business people in a variety of services related to transport, aviation, construction, professional services, accommodation and more. In education, the First Nation Pavilion is based in Val-d’Or within the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue and CEGEP complex. Native students obtain every year a university or college degree. In health related matters, the native population travels to Val-d’Or to receive health care services at the Centre de santé de la Vallée-de-l’Or. Based at the Val-d’Or hospital is the Cree Health Board and Social Services Department. This is why the Val-d’Or Native Friendship Center plays an important role in the welcoming and accommodation aspect of native people in transit in Val-d’Or.
